How To Clean Coir Matting:
Here are a few steps you can take to keep your Coir Matting looking its best:
If there is any dirt on your mat, make sure the stain is not wet prior to cleaning. If the stain is damp, rubbing this with a cloth can potentially damage the mat and set the stain.
Instead, wait for the stain to dry and then use a brush or vacuum cleaner to remove it.
Use a stiff brush regularly to deep clean the mat, and remove any stubborn dirt or debris.

Is Coir Matting The Same as Coconut Matting?
Coir matting is often called coconut matting as well. This is because the natural fibres are made from the husk of a coconut. Hence, they can be called coconut mats as well. You can also get a synthetic version of coir matting which comes in a much thinner thickness.
How Long Do Coir Mats Last?
Coir mats can last a few years if maintained properly! Keep in mind that this is a water-absorbent material, so can be prone to becoming water logged. This is why we recommend coir matting as an indoor mat.
What Is Coir Matting Made From?
Coir mats are made from coconut husks. Due to the natural fibres, they have a thick finish which makes it easy to remove dried dirt from boots. Additionally, a coconut mat is one of the most popular types of entrance matting in the UK.
Can You Vacuum Coir Mats?
We do not recommend using your vacuum cleaner coir mats unless completely necessary. We recommend picking up the coir matting and giving it a shake outside, which will dislodge any dried dirt and loose coir fibres. You can also use one of our coir matting cleaning brushes to clean any dried dirt from the top of the mat. However, if your coir coconut matting is large and too heavy to be picked up, you can vacuum your coir mat using the brush attachment of your hoover. If you are unsure, your order shall come with a care and fitting guide.
What Size Should My Coir Matting Be?
There is no specific size that your coir mat should be. However, we recommend ensuring that your matting is just as wide as your front door for maximum efficiency. If you have a particularly small doorway, the size coir matting cut to will be less than the average doormat. if you have any specific requirements, please let us know, and we will do our best to advise.
