Our National Three Peaks Challenge For Prostate Cancer UK

At Make An Entrance Prostate Cancer UK is a charity close to our hearts. As a result we wanted to do something challenging to raise money for this great cause! On the 18^th and 19^th September we took on the National Three Peaks Challenge.

Some Background On Prostate Cancer UK

Prostate Cancer UK has the goal of stopping men dying from prostate cancer. They support the 1 in 8 men in the UK that will develop prostate cancer in their lifetimes.

The Challenge

The National 3 Peaks Challenge involves summiting the highest peak in Scotland (Ben Nevis - 1330m), England (Scafell Pike - 978m) and Wales (Snowdon - 1085m). 37km of walking, and a total ascent of 3064 meters. A monumentus challenge that we knew would not be easy! We started our training in the summer ready to take on the challenge.

We were extremely fortunate to have Managing Director Stuart and Accounts Manager Chris as our designated drivers who we were all extremely grateful for. The trip would not have been possible without them.

Ben Nevis

After the 9 hour minibus journey to Fort William we all got an early night ready for a 4am alarm to start hiking Ben Nevis in the dark. What a challenge it was, in some of the most amazing scenery that we’d all ever seen. After summiting into the clouds we felt a euphoric sense of achievement, but also the daunting realisation that this was just the first of the three mountains.

Scafell Pike

Following the drive down to the Lake District we went to bed with another early alarm to start hiking Scafell Pike in the morning. Despite the sore legs, we began our ascent excited to continue the challenge. We were relived about the shorter hiking distance, but were unfortunately met with adverse weather conditions after summiting. A very slippery decent in a torrential rain storm added to the challenge.

Unfortunately due to factors outside of our control we were unable fully complete the challenge, but we all absolutely loved the experience and raising money for such a great charity. We'll be back to climb Snowdon soon!
