Length and Width vs Portrait and Landscape - What's the Difference?
We explain the difference between Length and Width vs Portrait and Landscape when ordering a custom made doormat.
For many of us, it’s been a long time since maths class at school, and the differences between length and width or portrait and landscape have become fuzzy! This blog article will provide you with knowledge of the differences between them for ordering a doormat.
Length and Width
In terms of our doormats, the width is the measurement running from left to right. Across the front of the doorway. The length is the measurement from front to back, as if you were approaching the doorway. For doormats with stripes or have personalisation available, this is important to know so that you ensure the doormat is made the way you want it. If are ordering a plain doormat, however, it doesn't matter. You can simply turn the plain mat in situ to achieve the desired orientation.
Landscape and Portrait
To build upon the dimensions, an understanding of landscape and portrait can also be important for doormats. A doormat with a landscape orientation would have the longest dimension running from left to right. A doormat with a portrait orientation would have the longest dimension running from front to back (or top to bottom if you prefer). This is important to specify for doormats that have stripes or have personalisation available, so that the stripes or design arrives with you the correct way around. As with the measurements of length etc, landscape and portrait are not important for plain doormats. You can simply turn the plain mat in situ to achieve the desired orientation.
